Most people in this age group need different prescriptions for distance and near vision. Varifocal lenses are usually recommended, although two pairs or bifocals are available (see eyewear >> lenses). For the more adventurous, bifocal contact lenses are now available.

Glaucoma is a common problem that can be easily treated and is more likely to occur over the age of 40.

The eye exam is FREE if you are over 40 and have a direct relative with glaucoma, as the risk for
you to get glaucoma is increased.
