AT WORK, Alex tests eyes, conducts glaucoma screening, advises athletes on sports vision and is involved in the PEARS project for acute eyecare referrals

OUTSIDE WORK, Alex 'enjoys' getting up at 4.15am to swim with his elder daughter, cycling and Thursday evenings at the pub.

Sarah Gage, Optometrist

AT WORK, Sarah tests eyes and fits contact lenses.

OUTSIDE WORK, when Sarah's not providing a taxi service for the energetic and athletic Gage girls, she enjoys horse riding, tennis and badminton.

Cara Smith, Manager

AT WORK, Cara has been with Alex for eleven years and is responsible for glazing, dispensing and appointments. She also carries out diabetic eye screenings and takes on any jobs Alex wants to delegate!

OUTSIDE WORK, loves walking her two Scottish Terriers (which she shows in her spare time), her three chickens, cat and African lake fish. Also really enjoys planning and cooking meals.

Rachel Ireson, Optical Assistant

AT WORK, Rachel has been with Alex since he bought the practice in 1996 and is responsible for booking patients in, accounts, dispensing and glazing.

OUTSIDE WORK, animal lover Rachel enjoys walking rescue dogs, fine food and foreign travel.

Heather Swift, Optical Assistant

AT WORK, Heather has been with Alex for four years and looks after reception, dispenses glasses and does glazing.

OUTSIDE WORK, Heather enjoys meeting up with friends for meals and walking her dog in Graves Park.
